On Saturday I had to say goodbye to an animal that I had come to respect and even love, despite the fact that he never acknowledged it. Isildur had become increasingly depressed and unhappy eating little he even went as far as, wrapping his lead rope around his neck, in an attempt to choke himself..Yes animals can and do show distress by attempting suicide.Judy his owner had found him like this 3 times in succession and she realised what had to be done..At 2pm on Sunday, Isildur was relieved of his pain and as much as I am angry at the terible loss of such a wonderful animal, I know he is no longer frightened, traumatised and waiting for his next punishment.We have his foal and with luck Isildur's heir will be born in May..

We all feel very angry that Isildur was driven to such despair and at the loss of his potential as a competition horse..Cheers Dobbin for your interest in Isildur it is much appreciated..smile
